Grief Exposed: “Get Out of The Tent” – Stepping into The Woods

Living life within a box, is not living a life. Taking chances after a death is not easy. This session will discuss “opportunities” that speak to, metaphorically, living life to the fullest…..not passing through it!

In this episode of Grief Exposed, host Ken Levy and guest Benjamin Wolfe discuss the journey through grief after losing a partner, describing how people feel torn by what they should or shouldn’t have done. They address the complexities of moving forward, emphasizing that “we do the best we can” despite the pain. This episode explores resilience, self-recrimination and existential guilt. Ken and Benjamin dive into the struggle to balance grief with daily life, especially for parents who must stay strong for their children. Together, they offer insights on healing and the lasting presence of loved ones in our lives.

Ben Wolfe, M.Ed., Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (Retired), and Fellow in Thanatology, is a grief, loss and transition trainer and consultant after 28 years as director and grief therapist of St. Mary’s Medical Center’s Grief Support Center in Duluth, MN where he provided life-threatening illness and bereavement counseling (from any cause of death) for all ages. He is a past president of the International Association for Death Education and Counseling, an award-winning educator, a St. Mary’s Medical Center’s “Employee of the Year,” and an international consultant and presenter having given over 2,000 presentations dealing with grief and loss. Additionally, for over 25 years Ben taught university graduate courses on death and dying, and for 23 years he also taught a course on life-threatening illness at the U of MN, Duluth School of Medicine. And he loves to bake bread, the old fashion way…by hand!
